Morland African Writing Scholarships 2026
The Miles Morland Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2026 Morland Writing Scholarships for African writers will open for entries on Wednesday 1st July. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday 22nd September. For information on how to apply, please see the page marked ‘Entry Requirements and FAQs’ on our website (www.milesmorlandfoundation.com ). For those applying, please read these carefully as we will be unable to accept applications that do not adhere to our entry requirements.
Last year we received over 800 submissions. We’re looking forward to receiving entries from new applicants and hope to see writers who have submitted before but not made the shortlist apply again too. While there is no rule against it, we would prefer new submissions and book proposals rather than ones that have been submitted previously. Our judges will have the difficult task of selecting just four new scholars. The winners will be announced in November.
